Mission & Vision:
Plans, develops, implements and evaluates the systems and processes necessary for the efficient translation and utilization of the best available evidence at all levels of clinical decision-making throughout KFSH&RC (e.g. Screening, Therapy, Diagnosis and Prognosis) by:
1 | Ensuring the use of a unified grading system for the level of clinical evidence throughout KFSHRC. |
2 | Developing systems and processes that ensure a consistent standard in the systematic review, translation and utilization of the best available evidence. |
3 | Promoting the effective utilization of evidence based care bundles, clinical pathways, protocols and guidelines. |
4 | Establishing organization wide education and awareness of Evidence Based Practice. |
5 | Collaborating with EBP Centers of Excellence nationally and internationally. |
Monitoring key performance indicators and clinical outcomes related to the utilization of the best available evidence.
1 | Three (3) Introduction to Evidence Based Medicine Workshops (offered to both hospital staff and other clinicians from throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). |
2 | Saudi Council for Health Specialties approved curriculum for Introduction to Evidence Based Practice – (approx 200 nursing staff have completed this program to date). |
3 | Hospital wide implementation of two (2) Evidence Based Bundles. |
4 | Hospital wide implementation of a multidisciplinary Clinical Pathways program (> 12 Clinical Pathways in use throughout the hospital). |
5 | 2003, the establishment of Nursing Affairs Practice Committee which has been successful in the development of systems and processes that ensure all nursing practice related IPP’s, guidelines are based on the best available evidence. |
1 | Successful implementation of a multidisciplinary Evidence Based Practice committee. |
2 | Development of a curriculum for all clinically based orientees that provides the orientee with the necessary skill base to function as a Evidence Based Practitioner. |
3 | Conduct research into the utilization and effectiveness of various translations of EBP. |
